Snuff bottles have fascinated Western and Asian collectors since they were first produced in China in the late seventeenth century. Nowadays, these tiny and exquisitely beautiful curiosities that once housed tobacco are highly prized.

Initially made for the emperor and upper class to contain powdered tobacco, snuff bottles were carefully produced in great quality and required for highly skilled craftsmanship. Eventually, the trend spread into the rest of the country and every social class thanks to its functionality. With a great fascination, snuff bottle became an object of beauty and a symbol to reveal one’s social status.
